According to the indictment, the mother and her three adult children are suspected of having manufactured and stored narcotic-classified preparations in their home on Hisingen in Gothenburg.
The family is then believed to have sold and sent the drugs to buyers via post. The criminal activity is thought to have lasted for at least five years.
However, it was not until 2023 that the police became suspicious of the woman in connection with a national drug operation.
"She had received packages with fake stamps. This was a typical approach for those who distributed narcotics via post, so she became interesting to us," says investigation leader Rebecca Godtman in a comment.
The mother and her two sons – 35 and 28 years old – were arrested in March 2024 after a period of surveillance. In July the same year, the woman's 32-year-old daughter was also arrested.
The family is suspected of having cultivated narcotic-classified mushrooms that were used as a base in the production. They are then believed to have purchased raw materials that were mixed and refined into narcotic-classified preparations in various forms.
Among other things, whole mushrooms, capsules with mushroom powder, liquid, as well as honey and chocolate that had been prepared with mushrooms.
The products were marketed on various digital platforms on the open internet and on Darknet.
The drug handling is classified as aggravated drug offenses. The trial against the four family members begins on March 6 in Gothenburg District Court.
