The Swedish Meteorological and Hydrological Institute (SMHI) is warning of sudden ice slicks in large parts of the country on both Sunday and Monday. Additionally, there are warnings of heavy rain in the southwest and snowstorms in the mountain range.
Since Saturday, the yellow warning for ice slicks has been extended and now covers an area from Dalsland, stretching eastward and northward, all the way up to the northern coast of Norrland.
In the entire area, there is a prevailing risk of rain or rain-mixed snow on roads that are cooled down, i.e., on the minus side, says meteorologist Linus Karlsson.
A yellow warning for heavy rain applies to Bohuslän and Dalsland, while there are warnings of snowfall and hard to very hard winds from the Jämtland and Härjedalen mountains up to the northern Lapland mountains. Along all coastlines, there may be strong winds, as there are warnings of gale-force winds at sea.
