SJ stops running night trains from Gothenburg to the Jämtland Mountains in the spring of 2025. The reason is that the traffic is unprofitable.
If we are to continue, we need state support in the same way as we receive for the night trains between Stockholm and Jämtland, says SJ's business manager Jan Kyrk to the website jarnvagar.nu.
The change means that passengers from Western Sweden to Östersund, Åre, and Duved must change in Stockholm late in the evening and on the return journey early in the morning.
The night train traffic from Gothenburg to Umeå also ceases. This happens in December this year.
