The work of restoring E45 north of Lilla Edet will continue during the autumn, reports P4 Väst.

After the road suffered major damage this summer in connection with a cloudburst, dual-direction traffic with reduced speed has been in effect. Heavy vehicles and long-distance traffic have been recommended to take the E6 route, while the smaller county road 2014 has been closed.

The rain was so heavy that the foam insulation, used under the road surface, was torn loose and ended up beside the road. The lane normally used for southbound traffic, towards Gothenburg, is however estimated to be largely undamaged.

According to the Swedish Transport Administration, the work of restoring the northbound lane will continue until the end of December.
