Language confusion, or?

World number two Novak Djokovic is through to the quarterfinals in Wimbledon, but was upset despite this over a part of the audience on Centre Court. The part that, according to the Serb, tried to boo him out of the tournament in the quickly settled three-set victory against the Dane Holger Rune.

Rune's supporters usually drag out his last name when they cheer, it becomes roughly "Ruuuuuune!". But in Djokovic's ears, it was a drawn-out "Booooo!", which he let the audience understand directly after the match ball in the victory interview that goes out on the stadium's sound system.

It didn't help that the interviewer tried to get Djokovic to believe that they maybe cheered for Rune, not booed against the opponent.

Trust me, I've been on the tour for over 20 years. I know all the tricks, I know how it goes, countered Djokovic.

Holger Rune then?

If you don't know what happened, it probably sounded like "boo", said the Dane.

Djokovic heartily thanked all those who, according to him, showed respect. The others he wished a "gooood evening, a really gooood evening" and made it sound a bit like someone who booed.
