Regime-critical protests flared up again on Wednesday in Mozambique in connection with Daniel Chapo from the ruling party Frelimo being sworn in as president.
At least seven people were killed in clashes with police, according to the local human rights organization Plataforme decide. The police refused to comment on the reports of deaths.
Extensive demonstrations have been held in Mozambique, mainly in the capital Maputo, since the disputed presidential election was held on October 9. According to Plataforme decide, a total of 307 demonstrators have died after the election.
