It is a consequence of President Donald Trump's decision to stop large parts of the USA's aid, the organization writes in a press release.

The employees that Dansk Flygtningehjælp now may have to lay off work in 21 countries.

The organization received over 20 notices of termination of American aid to projects in countries such as Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Colombia, Ethiopia, and Sudan on Wednesday evening. It concerns aid of around 130 million dollars.

"These terminations are not only serious contractual breaches, but they also endanger the lives of millions of the world's most vulnerable people", writes Charlotte Slente, Secretary General of Dansk Flygtningehjælp, in a comment.

The US government has announced that over 90 percent of all contracts with the aid agency USAID will be terminated. The value of the contracts is estimated to be 60 billion dollars.
