Cocaine seizures increased from 1,227 kg to 1,576 kg, while tablets increased from 2.1 million pieces to 4.8 million pieces. The increased cocaine seizures can be fully explained by a very large seizure in Norvik outside of Nynäshamn of over 1.3 tons.
The amount of cannabis and amphetamine seized decreased. However, 75 liters of amphetamine oil were seized, which is equivalent to approximately 240 kg of finished amphetamine.
"When we count in the amphetamine oil, it is almost at the level of the record amphetamine seizures in 2023. The large amount of seized amphetamine oil indicates that there are amphetamine factories in Sweden," says Jennie von Alten, head of the Customs Authority's control department, according to a press release.
Last year, the customs' weapons seizures also increased, after decreasing since 2020. The increase in parts of weapons was particularly large, with 187 parts seized last year compared to 46 the year before.
Seizures of explosives, however, decreased.
"Here we need to step up, not least given the background of all the explosions that have affected society in recent times. Therefore, we are now intensifying our controls to stop more explosives," says Johan Norrman, General Director of Customs.
