There are teams that need to win more than others when the regular season of SHL is coming to an end.
One of them is Linköping, which was second to last in the table before Saturday's round.
Luckily, the Östergötlanders took the opportunity and did just that. The team took its second consecutive three-pointer when Brynäs, which leads SHL with a 14-point margin, was defeated on away ground.
The decisive 3–2 goal was scored by the team captain himself, Oscar Fantenberg, in the middle of the third period. Christoffer Ehn set the final score at 4–2.
Thus, Linköping climbs past Örebro in the table to safe ground. For Brynäs, it was the first loss in seven matches.
Later in the evening, Örebro had the chance to pass Linköping, but Frölunda won away with 5–2 after two concluding goals by Jacob Peterson and one into an empty net by Erik Thorell.
