At the close of the Copenhagen Stock Exchange, the value had decreased slightly to minus 10.7 percent.
The price drop comes after Ørsted – one of the world's largest players in offshore wind farms – presented write-downs totaling 12.1 billion Danish kronor. This will burden the result for the fourth quarter of 2024.
Among other things, this involves higher interest rates as well as delays and cost increases related to Sunrise Wind, a large offshore wind farm project off Long Island in the state of New York, USA. However, the total amount also includes an expected cost of several billion kronor following a revaluation of lease agreements in the USA.
The billion-kronor write-downs for Ørsted come after the newly elected President of the USA, Donald Trump, announced that he would stop federal permits and lease agreements for new offshore areas for wind farm projects in the USA.
Despite the large write-downs, Ørsted can simultaneously present a preliminary operating result of 24.8 billion Danish kronor for 2024. This result is in line with earlier forecasts from the company.
