Inflation continues to rise in the euro area. In January, it amounted to 2.5 percent compared to 2.4 percent in December, according to new figures from Eurostat.
This is the fourth consecutive month with an increase and is primarily linked to rising energy prices.
A positive sign, on the other hand, is that core inflation, i.e. when energy prices, among other things, are excluded, remains unchanged at 2.7 percent compared to December.
