A former conscript has received hearing damage after a shooting exercise with sharp ammunition at Boden's Artillery Regiment A8. Now he is receiving compensation, reports NSD.

The incident occurred in the fall of 2022. The man, who is now 20 years old, completed his military service at Boden's Artillery Regiment A8. During a live firing training exercise, the man's hearing protectors fell off.

As a result, he has been affected by permanent damage in the form of tinnitus and increased sensitivity to sound. According to doctors, the hearing damage is expected to impair concentration ability and disturb sleep. The man's medical invalidity is estimated to be 6 percent.

According to the report to the Swedish Social Insurance Agency, it is believed that the hearing protectors the man wore under his helmet were poorly fitted. The man is now receiving a compensation of 136,000 kronor.
