22 climate activists acquitted after occupying the peatland Flymossen in Bredaryd in Värnamo municipality in the summer of 2023.

The activists – who belong to the network Restore Wetlands – among other things filled in ditches and camped on the peatland.

They were suspected of gross trespassing and vandalism. But the district court in Jönköping has dismissed the charges since the penal provision for trespassing, according to the court, cannot cover such a vast area as Flymossen.

According to the court, the defendants have not made themselves guilty of vandalism or any other punishable action covered by the charges.

A total of 26 people were prosecuted. Four, however, are not covered by the verdict – they will instead face proceedings in February.
