European Central Bank lowered the interest rate by 0.25 percentage points on Thursday. It was the first rate cut since 2019.
The cut was expected and did not lead to significant market movements on leading European stock exchanges.
FTSE 100 index in London, DAX index in Frankfurt, and CAC 40 index in Paris all rose by around 0.5 percent.
Stockholm Stock Exchange was closed due to Sweden's national day.
A rate cut was also announced in Denmark during the day. The central bank lowered the rate by 0.25 percentage points to 3.5 percent.
