Seven people have been shot dead in a square in north-eastern Brazil in what resembles a public execution.
Local media have published images from a surveillance camera showing how the perpetrators led the victims out onto the square in the town of Vicosa do Ceará and lined them up side by side.
Besides the seven murdered people, two more individuals were shot and injured, according to the authorities in the state of Ceará.
"This violent incident is unacceptable", says Mayor Elmano de Freitas in a statement, adding that the hunt for the perpetrators continues.
Ceará is one of the poorest and most violent states in Brazil.
