A boy under 18 years old was kidnapped for several days in Uppsala earlier this summer, reports UNT.

A total of six people, four men aged 20-30 and two women in their 20s, are detained on probable cause suspected of, among other things, kidnapping, aggravated assault and attempted aggravated extortion.

The motive, as we see it, has been to pressure the plaintiff and his relatives for money, says prosecutor Andreas Nyberg to the newspaper.

The kidnapping took place on June 29. The boy was held at different locations until he was released on July 4.

During the kidnapping, the boy is said to have been assaulted by the perpetrators with weapons, but he escaped without serious physical injuries.

One of the women could be arrested already when the boy was still being held captive. The others were arrested the following week.

The prosecutor says that it is not possible to rule out additional perpetrators.
