At least 28 young men who bought naked pictures on Snapchat were blackmailed for money by a gang. Now, six people have been convicted in Växjö District Court for offences including blackmail, writes Smålandsposten.

The young men were offered naked pictures for 200 kronor. After the purchase, the blackmailers contacted the young men, claiming that the girl in the picture was underage and that they had committed child pornography.

In total, the young men paid 320 000 kronor to the gang, who sent one of them 82 000 kronor at most.

"The plaintiffs have been shocked to be reported and exposed, and have often been teased for buying the pictures," states the court in its verdict.

The longest sentence of the convicted, two years' imprisonment, was given to a man from Småland who ran and organised the operation.
