Supporters of the Superettan club Helsingborg and others who described themselves as Helsingborg residents were outraged by the cake with MFF motifs, which the bakery had posted on social media to showcase good craftsmanship.
One of those who announced that she would boycott the bakery was Tonka Frodlund (S), a municipal council member and former chair of the Social Democrats in Helsingborg.
It's shocking that a politician can write that they will boycott Thores bakery. I just can't buy that, says Bengt Carlsson, who owns Thores bakery, to Helsingborgs Dagblad.
Tonka Frodlund (S) tells the newspaper that she stands by what she wrote.
I'm not going to shop from someone who likes MFF when I'm a Helsingborg resident. That's just the way it is. And if you don't shop, then it's a boycott. You have to take a stand in life.
It doesn't matter, she thinks, that the bakery made the cakes on behalf of a customer and not to show their own support for MFF. The baker made an active choice by posting an MFF image, Frodlund believes.
