A man opened fire and killed at least ten people at Campus Risbergska. This is what is known so far about the worst mass shooting in Swedish history.

The shooting occurred inside Campus Risbergska, which is the center for municipal adult education in Örebro. The alarm came just after 12:30 pm on Tuesday.

Students were confined, i.e. forced to stay indoors, in the actual school as well as in nearby schools.

About two hours after the alarm, the police declared that the danger in the school was over. The confined people in the school were able to leave the schools late in the afternoon.

At least eleven people have been confirmed dead. The figure may rise according to the police. One of the dead is the shooter.

According to the police, the victims were shot by the perpetrator, who was later found dead inside the school. According to information to TT, the man shot himself.

In total, four women and two men, all over 18 years old, are being treated in hospital. All five who had gunshot wounds were initially critically injured. The sixth, a woman, is being treated for minor injuries.

The injured people have mainly been hit in their arms and legs, according to Jonas Claesson, health and medical care director at Region Örebro.

The work of identifying the dead is ongoing.

The suspected perpetrator is previously unknown to the police and has no connection to any criminal gang. The police have conducted a search of an address in Örebro believed to be linked to the suspected man.

The police believe that the perpetrator acted alone and that the act did not have ideological motives.

There are no suspicions of terrorist crimes.

No police officers were injured in connection with the incident.

The police are working on the shooting as a special event and are receiving support from other police regions.
