Japan's Nikkei 225 index and broader Topix are both down 1.5 percent.
South Korea's Kospi is down 1.9 percent and Hong Kong's Hang Seng is down 1.4 percent.
Shanghai is down 0.6 percent and Shenzhen is down 0.9 percent.
