FBI Blames North Korean Hackers for $6.3 Billion Binance Heist

North Korean hackers are being blamed by the FBI for the billion-dollar heist at crypto exchange Binance earlier this week.

Assets worth around $6.3 billion, equivalent to just under 62 billion kronor, were stolen in the attack on Binance, the world’s largest cryptocurrency exchange.

According to the US Federal Bureau of Investigation, the North Korean hacking group TraderTraitor is responsible for what it describes as “malicious cyber activity”.

Earlier this week, the same group was also identified by TRM Labs, a blockchain intelligence firm, according to Bloomberg.

Binance has said it will compensate all customers for their losses in connection with the attack. According to the company, the breach may be linked to a laptop used by a software engineer with ties to the company.
