OpenAI Raises Less Than Half of $30 Billion Investment Goal, WSJ Reports

OpenAI has raised less than half of the $30 billion it is seeking in its new investment round, sources told the Wall Street Journal. The tech giant is now reportedly lowering its target.

According to the WSJ, OpenAI has so far attracted investments of no more than $11 billion, equivalent to just under 110 billion kronor. Sources say the company's valuation as a result is just over 12,000 billion kronor, below the approximately 13,700 billion kronor it had hoped for.

At the same time, the Financial Times reports, citing sources, that OpenAI has lowered its target for the investment round to $20 billion.

The news comes as the stock market is rattled by AI and tech mania following recent disappointing reports from industry giants such as Google parent Alphabet, Amazon and Intel.

OpenAI CEO Sam Altman announced in September that the company is aiming for an IPO next year.
