It surprises me a lot because he has an enormous experience, says Johan Wahlström.

The snake in question is a lance viper, which belongs to the family of vipers. The employee is said to have been bitten in the hand and according to Jonas Wahlström, it's not a dangerous bite.

It's not a deadly species, but as a precaution, we took him to the hospital, it naturally swelled around the bite, but he had no other general effects, says Wahlström, who also states that the police were on the scene after the incident.

Half of all venomous snake bites do not result in any venomous effects, as the snake can hold back its venom and bites only to scare, according to Jonas Wahlström.

The snake came to the aquarium together with eight other snakes two weeks ago after being seized by the police in Uppsala. All nine snakes from the seizure are now at Skansen-Akvariet.
