Boxholm's contribution to the Swedish Olympic Games team lined up two flawless rides in the qualifying round and final with Box Leo.
It was enough for a total 12th place when the eventing was decided with the show jumping. A notation in the Swedish Olympic history, for Andersén a performance she will carry with her throughout her life.
A strong dressage was followed by an excellent cross-country ride and rounded off with brilliant show jumping.
"It's enormous"
The Olympic Games are, as the French baron once said, so much more than just winning.
It's enormous. I'm so happy, she says and cries a little more.
Louise Romeike managed to just make it to the final after a fault and time penalty, but in the final, she and Caspian had a flawless round, albeit with a small time fault. It was enough for 24th place.
Sofia Sjöborg finished 33rd and did not make it among the 25 in the final. She had a hair's breadth fault on "Belle" and 0.8 in time faults.
It was millimeters that the fault came down to. It can happen. Otherwise, it was a very fine round, you can't wish for more, says Sjöborg.
"Shown that we exist"
If it weren't for the 15 penalty points she got in the cross-country – disputed and awarded on questionable grounds – the team would have celebrated in front of the palace in Versailles with bronze medals around their necks.
We've all performed as well as we can. It's not us who have done anything wrong in this. For us, it's like we've taken a bronze. Even if we don't get to hold the medals, it's like that. We've shown that we exist, that you can't count us out, says Frida Andersén.
German Michael Jung celebrated his third individual Olympic Games gold, the first eventing rider to achieve the feat.
