38 people have been confirmed dead after a traffic accident in southeastern Mexico on Saturday, according to Jackson Villacis, the responsible prosecutor in the case.
The incident occurred in the state of Campeche when a truck collided head-on with a bus, which was on its way from the state of Tabasco to the tourist resort of Cancún. Both vehicles caught fire in connection with the incident.
Relatives have made contact and reported that four more people died, but these have not yet been found, according to Villacis.
Nine people survived the accident.
Mexico has seen an increasing number of traffic accidents in recent years due to poor vehicle maintenance and reckless and exhausted drivers.
