After the Swedish protest – gets EM spot

The injured athlete Lovisa Karlsson seemed to be ruled out of a spot in the athletics EM, but now she will still get to compete in Rome. It's just so huge and I think it's so fine that justice wins, says her coach Nadja Casadei.

Swimmer Lovisa Karlsson looked like she was going to miss out on a spot at the athletics EM, but now she'll get to compete in Rome after all.

France withdrew two heptathletes from EM after the registration deadline had passed. The European Athletics Association (EA) then chose not to fill the starting field to 24 athletes, which made Lovisa Karlsson miss out on a spot.

The Swedish Athletics Association tried to get EA to change its mind, but it wasn't until Secretary General Stefan Olsson contacted the board that it worked.

EA writes in a press release that a member association made significant administrative mistakes and failed to remove 12 athletes from its preliminary registration. Therefore, EA has decided that these places will be filled by others, despite the registration deadline having passed.

Kajsa Bergqvist says to Casadei when she left the message:
