At least 14 people have died in landslides and floods following a storm in northern Philippines.

The tropical storm named Yagi reached wind speeds of over 20 meters per second, and gusts of over 34 meters per second as it swept over northern Philippines and further out over the South China Sea.

In the capital Manila, most schools were closed on Tuesday.

Storm warnings remain in place in most regions of northern Philippines, where residents are warned of the risk of further landslides in rain-soaked mountain villages and floods in agricultural communities in low-lying areas.
