The Museum of Mediterranean and Near Eastern Antiquities is Sweden’s main archaeological museum of Mediterranean cultures. Its collections cover Egypt, Cyprus, Greece, the Roman Empire and the Middle East. The Egyptian displays take visitors through 7,000 years of history and introduce people who lived alongside the Nile. Stories, films and digital technology guide visitors through the historical material and down into a burial chamber.
Egypt sits within a broader collection that also covers Cyprus, Greece, the Roman Empire and the Middle East, so the museum’s subject extends beyond the Nile. Visitors can follow the Egyptian history presentation through its stories, films and digital technology, then continue down to the burial chamber. The museum’s geographical range includes archaeology from several regions, while its Egyptian displays focus on a long span of history. Bagdad Café offers a view of the Royal Palace, and the museum has a shop.
