Poland and the Baltic States want to leave the landmine agreement
Poland and the Baltic countries have announced that they plan to withdraw from the Ottawa treaty, which prohibits the use of landmines, also known as personal and anti-personnel mines. The four EU and NATO countries say in a joint statement that since they signed the agreement, the threat from Russia has increased significantly.
NATO Base Inaugurated in Poland
An American air defense facility in northern Poland, which will be part of NATO's defense, was inaugurated on Wednesday. The plans were made public in 2009.
Poland buys attack helicopters from the USA
Poland signed an agreement on Tuesday to purchase 96 Apache helicopters from the USA as part of the effort to strengthen the Polish defense's capability. This was stated by the country's Defense Minister Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysz at a press conference at the Inowroclaw airbase where the helicopters will be based.
