Schibsted sells Prisjakt
The Norwegian conglomerate Schibsted is selling several of its operations, including the price comparison websites Prisjakt and Lendo. CEO Christian Printzell Halvorsen explains the decision by saying that the conglomerate now wants to "simplify the company portfolio and sell off parts that do not belong to the core business".
Worse than expected for Schibsted without media
The owner of the advertising site Blocket, the Norwegian Schibsted group, reports an unexpectedly weak result for the second quarter of the year. The operating profit according to the ebitda measure increased by 1 percent compared to the previous year to 546 million Norwegian kronor.
Schibsted slashes workforce
Norwegian Schibsted is to get rid of around 250 employees in Norway, Sweden, Denmark, and Finland, the company announces in a stock exchange notice. The downsizing is part of a cost-cutting and efficiency programme to streamline Schibsted Marketplace after the company's split, where the media operations were divided into a separate company.
