BankID

The digital identity most people in Sweden use to log in to banks, agencies, the health service and many shops, and to sign agreements and approve payments. It usually lives as an app on your phone and is issued by your Swedish bank.

To get BankID you normally need a Swedish personnummer, an account or customer relationship with a bank that issues it, and a valid ID document the bank accepts. In practice this makes BankID one of the last steps after registration, the personnummer and an ID card.

Never approve a BankID request you did not start yourself, and never let anyone else use yours. Fraudsters often call pretending to be a bank or an authority and ask you to log in.
