It will be possible for municipalities to employ doctors, but on a voluntary basis.
This is evident from the investigation set up by the government to increase medical competence in municipal healthcare. The investigation, led by investigator Mikael Ohrling, has now been submitted to Minister for Elderly Care and Social Insurance Anna Tenje (M).
This means that the regions' basic responsibility for doctors remains, says Ohrling.
The investigation has four detailed proposals for strengthening municipalities' access to doctors, and five proposals for creating "better competence supply" in the area.
We are getting more and more people living longer, says Anna Tenje and continues:
But it also poses many challenges, many of us will need help and support.
The investigation will now be further processed within the Government Offices.
