The USA is to develop a new fighter jet, the F-47, which will be built by Boeing. This was announced by President Donald Trump at a press conference at the White House on Friday.
According to the Pentagon, the aircraft's performance will far surpass that of today's fighter jets and be decisive in the event of a conflict with China.
The F-47 is intended to eventually replace the F-22, which has been in service for nearly two decades. The new aircraft will, among other things, be able to operate in conjunction with unmanned drones.
According to Trump, the cost of the project cannot be disclosed for security reasons.
The news is very welcome for Boeing. The company has been affected by a prolonged strike over the past year, and its aircraft models have been involved in several accidents.
