Potato wart has been detected in potatoes at a producer near Kristianstad. It is the first case in seven years, writes the Board of Agriculture in a press release.
Potato wart, which does not make the potatoes dangerous to eat, is a fungus and a quarantine pest that can cause significant damage to potato crops.
The producer in question is now taking measures to prevent the spread. At the same time, tracking is underway to investigate where the infection comes from and if more potato fields have been affected.
