Two men are sentenced for breaching a ban on residence in the Stockholm suburb of Rågsved, reports the police.
The law on ban on residence came into force in February and means that anyone who promotes crime or undermines safety can be prohibited from residing within a designated area, following a decision by the prosecutor.
The men's ban on residence covered Rågsved's centre, adjacent schools and the underground station, as well as "corresponding outdoor areas at preschools and leisure centres, and vehicles in public places", according to the police.
One man is sentenced to one month's imprisonment, the other receives a conditional sentence and community service. The verdict is the first of its kind in Stockholm.
According to the police, the area has become quieter since they started using the new law.
