Two young men are acquitted of the murder of a 29-year-old man who was hacked to death in Umeå last autumn.
"The district court has, upon a comprehensive assessment of the evidence presented, found that the charge of murder is not proven", the court writes in a press release.
The murder occurred on the night of October 9, 2023. The man was found seriously injured outdoors in the Mariehem area of Umeå.
He was stabbed 22 times with a sharp object, likely a knife, according to the charge. The man also suffered head injuries due to blunt violence and died at the hospital due to bleeding.
The two men who were acquitted were released immediately after the trial ended two weeks ago.
