The trial against the man accused of involvement in the murder of rapper Tupac Shakur in 1996 is being postponed. The trial was supposed to take place in March, but is now being moved to June 2026.
The judge believes that it is currently not possible to guarantee a fair trial, and intends to summon the prosecutor and defense after this summer for a status update.
On Friday, the man's defense attorney applied for more time, among other things because new witnesses have not yet been able to be heard.
Tupac Shakur was shot in his car on September 7, 1996, at a red light at an intersection in Las Vegas. He died at the hospital six days later, at the age of 25.
The accused man is the only person still alive of those who were in the car from which the shots were fired, and the only one who has been accused of a crime in the case.
