In July, Trump was hit by a bullet in the ear during a campaign meeting in Butler, Pennsylvania. The perpetrator was then shot to death by the Secret Service protection team.
In September, Trump was nearly subjected to another murder attempt during a golf round in Florida, when the Secret Service discovered a rifle barrel sticking out through a fence aimed at the course where Trump was playing.
