A battle against the clock is underway to find an escaped zebra on Jutland. Two days after the escape, the animal is still on the loose.

Since Wednesday, the zebra has been spotted several times and even caught on film. But despite a massive search effort with, among other things, drones, the hunters have gone blank.

The only thing we have to go on is that some people have heard sounds in nature. But we've investigated that without result, says zookeeper Ove Nordestgaard to Ritzau.

Time is running out for the escaped zebra, report Danish media.

I fear that it has gone down into a stream or a wetland area and can't get out. We're still optimistic, but our optimism is dwindling hour by hour, says Nordestgaard to TV Midt Vest.

In total, three zebras broke out from Jylland Park Zoo in Herning on Wednesday, by kicking open a lock to the enclosure where they were.

Two of them were quickly found and caught with the help of sedatives. They are said to be doing well under the circumstances.
