For the first time in history, the entire New Testament has been translated into South Sami. On Sunday, "Orre testament" will be launched at the high mass in Västerås Cathedral.
"This is the best thing that has happened in years and days, that we can read the NT in our heart's language. It is also an important step in the Swedish Church's reconciliation process", says Erik-Oscar Oscarsson, priest and chairman of the Swedish Church's Sami Council, in a press release.
Previously, the hymn book and the church manual have been available in South Sami, which is considered one of the world's most endangered languages.
