We have understood that there were possible uncertainties about how this has been done, says Stefan Gollbo, unit manager at the National Audit Office, to the newspaper.

It was in March this year that Anna Kinberg Batra is supposed to have decided to fire Ryding, who after an agreement received 2.2 million kronor in severance pay.

According to Stefan Gollbo, it is likely that only the government has the right to dismiss or appoint a county director.

We will look into whether the Governor of Stockholm has exceeded her authority, he says to Aftonbladet.

There has been a lot of controversy surrounding the former Moderate Party leader since revelations in Aftonbladet and TV4 News during the spring about her recruiting people she is friends with as Governor.

Internal investigations at the county administrative board have established that there were deficiencies in regulatory compliance and recruitment processes. Batra is also being investigated by the Parliamentary Ombudsman (JO), which is reviewing the recruitments she has carried out.
