The 22-year-old woman who was murdered in Lessebo last May had previously told several police officers that she had been raped by her father, but no police report was ever filed. Now, prosecutors have launched an investigation into suspected dereliction of duty, reports SVT News Småland.
There is reason to believe that police officers have committed a crime against the reporting obligation, as described in the ninth paragraph of the Police Act, says Nicklas Englund, chief prosecutor for special investigations, to SVT.
He emphasizes that the investigation was started based on the information that has come to light in media reporting.
The woman's brother and parents have been charged as suspects for her murder. The prosecutor describes it as an honor killing.
