The accident occurred in connection with maintenance work on the nuclear reactor in Forsmark 3. The man was welding a valve on a large pipe and, according to witnesses, stuck his head into the pipe to investigate something. As a result of oxygen deficiency, it led to cardiac arrest. The man was taken to hospital where he later died.

The Work Environment Authority, which has investigated the death, has also taken part in the company's internal investigation. According to the authority, there are no deficiencies in the work environment work that caused the accident, reports Upsala Nya Tidning.

The police investigation continues, however. The prosecutor will now decide whether to bring charges or drop the case.
