A boy in his late teens was freed on Monday from a youth home east of Uppsala. The rescue was carried out by two men in a car.
At around 2 pm, the police in Stockholm managed to stop the car the boy was travelling in.
It is not illegal to abscond from a youth home. The boy has not committed any crime and therefore is not arrested, but taken into youth care, says the police's press spokesperson Pelle Vamstad.
A person in their 50s is arrested on suspicion of aiding and abetting escape and threatening a public official.
Now our job is to interview those in the vehicle, but of course also the staff at the youth home to hear what happened and how it went, says Pelle Vamstad.
No staff at the youth home were injured during the rescue.
