Expressen has previously revealed that Starbrink got the job on February 20 after applying for it a week earlier – despite nine months having passed since the application deadline expired. Prior to that, 56 people had applied for the job.

According to Aftonbladet, the Government Offices had prepared preferential treatment documents regarding a company car for Starbrink's signature before she even applied for the job.

However, according to the Government Offices' press service, the recruitment process began early in the fall of 2024.

"When she submitted the formal application, the Government Offices had, among other things, conducted interviews with her and obtained references. She had also undergone a security clearance," writes press secretary Jonathan Svensson to Aftonbladet.

The Left Party has filed a complaint with the Constitutional Committee against Carl-Oskar Bohlin (The Moderate Party), Minister for Civil Defense, over the appointment.
