A car thief stole a new SUV in Norway. But what the thief didn't count on was that the new car had a built-in tracking device.
The affected owner could follow the car's journey in real-time. When the stolen car drove south on the E6 through Halland on Thursday, the owner called the Swedish police.
We order a patrol to go out and meet up. Then we see the car in Väröbacka and stop the vehicle, says Viktor Åkring Dicksved, station commander at the police in Varberg to Hallands Nyheter.
The driver of the stolen car is now detained, suspected of grand theft, drug-related driving, narcotics offense, and forgery of registration plates, as the car had been equipped with fake registration plates.
