The man and woman had previously been colleagues and started a romantic relationship over ten years ago, which ended in 2016. The woman changed jobs in 2020, but in the summer of 2023, the man began sending her messages via Messenger.

The woman blocked him in the app, and in May 2024, he was given a restraining order against the woman as he continued to send SMS instead.

The man is now convicted of unlawful harassment, also known as stalking. A total of 4,661 messages have been collected as evidence. The district court assesses that the sentence corresponds to a prison sentence of two months, but since he has no prior convictions, he is given a fine of 16,500 kronor and a fee of 1,000 kronor to the Crime Victim Fund.

The man also has his phone confiscated since it was an aid in the crime.
