The 50-year-old comedian and film star is already facing two other charges of rape and sexual assault, alleged to have taken place between 1999 and 2005. Today's hearing at a London court was for Brand to explain how he felt about the new allegations. The main hearing in both cases will come later.
Police opened a preliminary investigation into the high-profile comedian after an investigation by television company Channel 4 and the Sunday Times newspaper in 2023, in which several women accused him of abuse.
Brand has consistently denied the allegations.
