Skåne was the county that was worst affected by natural disasters last year, according to new statistics from Swedish Insurance. Of the nearly 20,000 cases in the country that became insurance claims, around 4,300 occurred in Skåne, reports P4 Malmöhus.
One reason for the many insurance claims is Storm Babet, which swept over Skåne in October last year. It caused significant damage to nature and buildings.
In total, 172 million kronor have been paid out in damages to households and businesses in Skåne. Across the country, damages totalled 1.6 billion kronor in 2023.
This year, too, Skåne has been severely affected by natural disasters, including the flooding in Ringsjön and along the Kävlinge River at the beginning of the year.
