Fishing quotas for cod in the Kattegat are being reduced even further. This is one of the results since the EU member states finally agreed on next year's fishing in, among other places, the North Sea, the Atlantic, and the Mediterranean.
The cod in the Kattegat has previously only been allowed to be caught as bycatch, and the maximum limit is now set to 72 tons for both 2025 and 2026 – a reduction of 17 percent compared to this year.
This year's negotiations continued until the night against Wednesday and also resulted in, among other things, reduced trawling in Spanish, French, and Italian waters in the Mediterranean, as well as a significant reduction for horse mackerel off Portugal.
